The Project


The Sister Nivedita Educational Complex was founded by Mrs. Ushaben Jani and Mr. Gulabbhai Jani in 1968. Initially, they started their education project with a school that currently houses kindergarten through 12th grades.

Sister Nivedita Educational Complex now manages Sister Nivedita School, Sister Nivedita School-on-Wheels (for quality education in rural goverrnment schools), Principal D. P. Joshi Public Library (for benefit of all citizens of Rajkot area), Sister Nivedita Continuing Education Centre (for empowerment of women and youth), Pre-Primary Teachers' Training Centre (to provide better teachers to the society), Hobby Centre, Sister Nivedita Publication, Samudgar (Educational Quarterly), Sister Nivedita Best Teacher Award (for inspiring teachers from entire Gujarat State to excel), Scholarship and Loan Scholarship to needy Students, and Dhanvantari Aushadhiya Upavan (to encourage students to learn about Ayurveda plants and its medicinal properties).

Government of Gujarat has recognized this Institution by giving “Best School of Gujarat Award” in 1991 and “Best School of Rajkot District Award” in 2007-08.

While on a tour of institutes of education, Founders of this institution visited many colleges and universities worldwide. Their interactions with numerous individuals demonstrated the need to build a more holistic education system in India.
